View Full Version : 2009 Albany, Ga. Artifact Show

I just wanted to let everyone know that there will be an artifacts show in Albany, Georgia this year as of right now it will be at the same location that is has been for the last few years. Hasan Shrine Temple ,1822 Palmyra Road, Albany, GA 31701. The only issue that we have is the date. Looks like the only 2 available dates will be either Sept. 5th - (Which is Labor Day Weekend) or Oct. 31st - (Which is Halloween). Give me some feedback on these 2 dates so we can go ahead and reserve the building within the next week or so.
Thanks,
David Griffin

Just make sure the 31st isn't opening day of deer season. That would be my pic of the dates.

Opening day of gun season for deer this year is October 17th.

I think Oct.31 would bring a better crowd, since trick or treating won't start until dark. I am sure there will be many plans for labor day all ready.

Food for thought.....anytime you cut into a Saturday of gun season, you are going to affect attendance, especially in the early hours of the show. Even more so, early in the season. Just my two cents. If the only other weekend is Labor Day weekend, thats no good at all.
I am glad to see someone take the lead and keep this show going and it needs to be someone from the Albany area to do the best job.
Let me know how I can be of assistance. Glad to do what I can.

OCT. 31st it is. If all goes well at this show, we will go ahead and book the building in advance. So we can have the show one or two weeks right before deer season kicks off.
Look forward to seeing you all there.

Email me at davidgriffin505@hotmail.com if you would like a PDF, word document, etc. I can get you some copies made but keep in mind they are kind of expensive, right now staples has a promation for .05 cents a copy (online submission) untill Sept. 19th after that I believe it goes up to .09 cents a copy. Glad you moved back to ABVI,that Stuper 8 was a dump last year.
I had a room in the basement, someone locked their keys in their truck, bannerstone's were lost in a van, points were left in the wrong rooms, big crowd outside.Alot of chaos but amazingly no one went to jail.
Let's see if we can top all that this year! LOL

It worked good in Dothan to connect faces with names.
I am also thinking about having basically the same type of sack lunch; BAR-B-QUE sandwiches, chips, drink, pickle, and a cookie for 5 bucks. Something simple yet tasty.
Wish I had some things to raffle off as well. Don't know what I am going to do about that yet. Maybe some stuff for the kids would be great.....

Anyone have any more pictures? I'd love to see them. I really wanted to make this show but my grandmother passed away.
Any collector in my area (marion county GA) who doesn't mind a newbie looking at their stuff please PM me.

Its a copper pipe, thought to possibly be English or Scottish in origin, found in S. Georgia

Matthew, I will also be having a show in Plains in January. I used to deer hunt in Marion county, some nice artifact spots over that way! Came through there today going up to Peachtree City.

Did anyone get a chance to see those gords that Mrs. Muskgrove brought in? They were extremly beauitiful. I had to get my mom one. Hank post some pics I know you went home with a few. Going to see if we can get her to do some more for the show next year.

The copper object, I'm pretty sure it's a Benjaman Harbenson tea kettle spout.

It may be, I know little to nothing about copper artifacts and little about pioneer/settler/contact period "white man" artifacts.
